Privacy Policy

Ranch Pro ("we", "us") provides cattle ranch management software at ranchpro.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've built Ranch Pro on a local-first architecture: most of your ranch data — animals, pastures, medical records, transactions — never leaves your device. The information we do collect is the minimum needed to keep your account secure and your service working.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

Mobile phone number — used to send one-time verification codes for sign-in and to identify your account.
Email address — used for password reset, account confirmation, and important account notifications.
Ranch name and (optional) location — used to label your account and provide pasture mapping features.

Ranch data

All ranch data — including animal records, weights, medical history, pasture boundaries, financial transactions, and photos — is stored locally on your device using your device's encrypted storage (IndexedDB on web, Hive on mobile). We do not have access to this data. If you opt in to encrypted cloud backup, your data is encrypted on your device with a key only you hold before being uploaded. We can't read encrypted backups, only store and return them.

Usage data

We log basic technical information needed to operate the service: your IP address, browser type, and the date/time of authentication events. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavior profilers.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

Authenticate you and protect your account from unauthorized access
Send transactional SMS messages (verification codes, password reset codes, account creation confirmation, security alerts, and subscription notices)
Send transactional email (password resets, account confirmation, billing receipts, important service notifications)
Operate, maintain, and improve the service
Comply with applicable law

3. SMS-specific notice

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive transactional SMS from Ranch Pro. Message frequency varies based on your account activity (typically less than 5 messages per month for an active account). Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out of SMS at any time. After you reply STOP, you will not receive further SMS messages from us. SMS opt-out has no effect on your account itself — you may still sign in via email.

We do not share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. The only third party that ever receives your phone number is our SMS infrastructure provider (Twilio), who delivers the message on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose. Phone numbers are not sold, rented, or used to enrich third-party advertising profiles.

4. Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited cases below:

Infrastructure providers — Supabase (authentication and database), Twilio (SMS delivery), Resend (email delivery), and Cloudflare (web hosting and CDN). Each receives only the minimum information needed to perform its function.
Payment processor — if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
Legal compliance — we may disclose information if compelled by valid legal process, but only the minimum required by law.
Business transfer — if Ranch Pro is acquired or merged, your information may transfer to the successor entity, subject to this Privacy Policy.

5. Your choices and rights

SMS opt-out: reply STOP to any SMS to stop all SMS from Ranch Pro.
Email opt-out: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any non-transactional email. Transactional messages (password reset, security alerts) are required for the service and cannot be opted out of without closing the account.
Account deletion: delete your account from in-app Settings. All server-side records are removed; your local device data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear browser storage.
Data export: use Settings → Export to download all of your ranch data as CSV/Excel/PDF at any time.
Access and correction: contact [email protected] for questions about the limited account information we hold.

6. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete server-side records within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., transactional payment records may be retained for tax compliance for up to 7 years).

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices: TLS 1.2+ for all network traffic, password hashing with bcrypt, encrypted storage at rest, and row-level security on the database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and notify you in the event of a breach affecting your data.

8. Children

Ranch Pro is intended for adults operating cattle ranches. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
